Vulnerability without Victimhood

Trouble is, it only shows what has happened to you; it does not reveal who you are.

vulnerability without victimhoodRecently, I have been standing in the quiet architecture of my marriage and noticing the subtle, automatic gears the old trauma-bound identity is trying to run.

I can step back, observe that “little terrified” part of me, and name it without collapsing into it. As anyone who has struggled with abandonment trauma knows, this is massive proof of my ability to regulate. No longer trapped in a template of trauma loops, I am able to observe and differentiate while staying regulated and in the truth of who I am. So, redefining true vulnerability has become a necessity if I wanted to experience relationships without being anchored in my past trauma.

The Illusion of Hyper-Vigilant Transparency

For a system wired by early relinquishment and trauma, safety is often sought through hyper-vigilant transparency. We define intimacy as sharing everything: life, thoughts, emotions, being completely naked. It applies to every relationship, not only romantic ones.

When a system is running on an old survival blueprint, “sharing everything” can easily cross the line into forced vulnerability—using a trauma story or an intense emotional disclosure as a crowbar to force a feeling of depth and security. It’s an unconscious strategy that says: “If I show you my deepest wounds right now, and you accept them—the ‘worst of me’—then I am safe from abandonment.”

This is a temporary solution at best because it isn’t true vulnerability. It requires a deferment of personal power and results in weak boundaries. When we seek connection through over-sharing, or sharing too quickly before trust has been built, we give our power away to temporarily gain connection. For those starving for safe connections, this opening of the wound gives them the exact sensation of depth they long for.

Trouble is, it only shows what has happened to you; it does not reveal who you are. This feels safer because you have already experienced abandonment for who you are; at least, that is how I felt as an adoptee. Perhaps it feels safer, but it comes at the cost of not truly being seen. And until we are seen, accepted, and loved—by others and ourselves—it is challenging to create lasting connections. Healthy connection requires a filter. True intimacy is not a floodgate; it is a gated sanctuary.

The Insecure Connection Blueprint

Looking back over my life to discern how and what I was looking for, here is what I discovered:

  • Forced Vulnerability: Urgently sharing deep wounds, complaints, gossip or outrage, anything that creates an “us vs them”, or intense processing to “prove” a connection exists.
  • Seeking “Oneness” (Enmeshment): Wanting the other person to completely merge with your emotional state so you feel anchored. A desire to share everything deeply, right now.

  • Over-Sharing as a Litmus Test: Giving away your depth immediately to see if the other person will drop or hold you.

Rebuilding the Vessel: 2021 to 2026

In 2021, I experienced a shift. No, it was more like a break—a tearing away from my old trauma-bound identity. It was a final separating from the parts of me that identified with my origin wound. From that time forward, I have been consciously rebuilding my life with the intention to pursue sovereignty, because that honors my true essence and worth.

Sounds easy enough, lol. Like I flipped a light switch. In some regards it has been easier, because I can see more clearly and I know who I am now. But it also meant starting over. My trauma started early in life, even as I was being formed, so I didn’t know how to do life or relationships any differently.

For the last five years, I have been doing the hidden work of laying a new foundation. It felt light and deep at the exact same time. Yes, I have continued to see patterns, but the pain and grief I carried for a lifetime are gone. What I experience now feels like distant echoes. I register them, but I do not spiral down or follow those old, well-worn paths.

In 2022, I noticed that I had established the capacity to hold and maintain a higher frequency. Now, in 2026, I can say that has remained steady. I am experiencing life from a higher perspective that feels more aligned, yet at times I have felt numb compared to the amount of emotion I felt before. Yet, as I became more attuned to the subtle sensations of my body, this presence became my “enchanted compass,” guiding me toward wholeness.

The Power-With Architecture

Navigating relationships and points of connection has been where I have been practicing my sovereignty—making boundaries anchored in my power rather than in fear and reaction. It is here that I am learning what vulnerability looks like without victimhood. This is brand new for me, and it is uncomfortable.

As I have been navigating the “wild womb business” model—the one Life has inspired and asked me to birth, Finding Home with Jude—I am wrestling with what it looks like to create a power-with business that helps others birth their own sovereignty. I want to help people migrate from a trauma-bound identity to an earth-bound soul, so their cosmic essence can more fully inhabit their sacred body, without me playing the “guru” or using power-over marketing strategies. It is all new to me.

Writing from this new place, instead of from the wound, has also been a challenge. I have tried over and over again for months. My previous work was known for its vulnerability, and it is still one of my core values, but I had no idea what vulnerability looks like now that I feel good most of the time. My ups and downs are so nuanced and infrequent that anchoring my work from my old trauma-bound identity wouldn’t do. It isn’t real. That old way was all smoke, mirrors, shadows, and protective mechanisms that my true light shone through, but fractured.

I feel cautious here because that old expression was beautiful. I shone through despite my trauma, and if that was my limit—my capacity for this lifetime—it would be okay. But there is a greater fullness I am here to embody.

Ask yourself: Are you here to embody more? What do you imagine that would look like? Because I always knew, and what I imagined was the truth of my actual capacity.

Redefining True Vulnerability

So, as I explore living from this new place, I am learning how to be vulnerable without deferring my power. Here is what I have discovered so far:

  • Natural Unfolding: A slow, rhythmic blossoming that respects timelines and capacity.

  • Power-With Connection: Two distinct, stable vessels standing on their own feet, sharing a horizon.

  • Discernment: Keeping your holy spaces private until a relationship has earned the structural right to hold them.

What is true vulnerability? It is found in the moments that require courage to speak or share with someone. The moments we feel scared to be seen and heard, and we do it anyway.

True vulnerability is not about the content of what you are saying (it doesn’t have to be a dark secret or a trauma narrative). It is about the presence required to stay un-braced in the current moment.

Trauma-bonded vulnerability looks backward. It talks about the past armor and the past battles. Sovereign vulnerability stays entirely in the present flesh. It sounds like standing in front of someone, feeling that little terrified part of you grappling for connection, and simply saying:

“I am feeling a little untethered right now, and my system is trying to force a deep conversation just to feel close to you. I’m practicing letting myself just be here with you without forcing it.”

That requires immense courage. It doesn’t use a past story as a shield; it exposes the raw, awkward boundary of the present moment. This is an organic vulnerability that requires a fierce dedication to the Self. It is a moment-by-moment choice to be real in the now—and being able to admit when you haven’t built the capacity to be that courageous yet. That is real too, and it is completely okay. We are all on this path, walking toward Home together.

An Invitation to the Sovereign Soul Container (SSC)

If the words above resonate in your nervous system, I am opening a space to practice this exact way of being.

On August 8th at 11:00 AM, I am launching a 3-month intimate container called the Sovereign Soul Container (SSC). This is a structured, somatic laboratory designed for those who are ready to migrate out of a trauma-bound identity and fully anchor their cosmic soul into their earth-bound, physical vessel, their sacred body. Together, we will practice the daily mechanics of presence, un-bracing the nervous system, and connecting without our armor.

Because this is the initial pilot iteration, I am keeping the space deeply intimate—strictly limited to 3 participants so we can co-create this foundation together.

  • When: Begins Saturday, August 8th at 11:00 AM EST (3-month container)

  • The Exchange: $333 for this pilot founding circle (True value $1,111)

There is no complex application or marketing funnel. If your vessel recognizes this frequency and you feel a quiet, internal yes, click link below to show interest. Let’s have a simple, conversation to see if this container is a match for you.
